HPHY Undergraduate Takes Second Place in National Competition

The Science Coalition is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization of more than 50 of the nation’s leading public and private research universities. It is dedicated to sustaining the federal government’s investment in fundamental scientific research as a means to stimulate the economy, spur innovation and drive American competitiveness.

The competition comes with a cash prize of $750 for second place. “I’m deeply honored and humbled to be selected as the national runner up in this competition,” Cruz said. “Just knowing that I had a community of family, friends, colleagues, mentors, advisors, and so many others supporting me through this process is the biggest win that I could ever ask for.” ~Alonso Cruz
