Congratulations Augustine Beard!

History major Augustine Beard has been selected as a Udall Scholar!

The Udall Foundation awards scholarships to college sophomores and juniors for leadership, public service, and commitment to issues related to Native American nations or to the environment.

Augustine is a history and environmental studies student at the University of Oregon, Clark Honors College. He aspires to use history as a tool to understand the complexity of human interaction with the environment, promote wise and just environmental policy, and empower communities marginalized in environmental decision-making. Augustine is a codirector of the Radical Organizing and Activism Resource Center and a member of the Glacier Lab – a cohort of professors, graduate students, and undergraduates researching the human geography and history of climate. In his free time, Augustine enjoys exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
